Just finished tuning up my 02 jaguar xtype, but I'm affraid I didn't match coils w cylinders? Did I have to match them just like in any other vehicle? Cuz car won't start???
Replaced spark plugs, coils, lower n
upper gaskets! First time I only
replaced spark plugs n didn't mess w
coils n it started right back no
problem! This time I replaced also
the coils n now it won't start up??
The wiring connections/harness to the coils can't be switched to other cylinders. It will run terrible, but should still start. Recheck all your connections.
The coils on each plug can be placed wherever you like. Coils do not need to be "matched" to a particular cylinder. It is also hard to mess up the harness connections as they exit the bundle where they belong on a cylinder. More than likely you just missed a connector that the engine needs to fire. I would re-check and check again.
