If a fault occurs during any adaptive speed control operation the adaptive speed control system will be deactivated and will remain in this state until the fault is rectified. The message center will display 'CRUISE NOT AVAILABLE'. Make sure you're traveling over 20mph. Otherwise if you don't see any other engine light's or notices, the problem is likely a fault in the electrical system that manages the variable speed control module. There are a lot of systems to check. I'd recommend going to an autopart store and having them read any DTC codes.
