Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my new to me truck runs great, bit hard on fuel but hey its a 4x4 truck with a 5.3 liter V8. Does anyone know if a 5.3L is similar to the old school 327 CI chev.

I have a crew cab 06, just under 40k and both front wheel bearings have been replaced. Also some weird electrical issues here and there.

You know, I have felt something rattling through the steering, I do have bumper to bumper warranty, so I should have that checked, thanks for the input everyone.

As far as I know, my truck is factory, but it will sure get up and dangle when you punch it on the highway, the intake howls like a cop car in hot persuit. I suppose my mileage isn't that bad after all, I think I'm getting around 24 MPG on highway, with tailgate up. Have you had ur truck dynoed with the new chip to see how much more HP you get?

I have an 06 GMC Sierra SLE, extended cab z71 4X4, with the 5.3. I have had the front bearings replaced twice under warranty, once at 22000, and once at 68000. Also, there is a service bulletin out on the body mounts. You may notice a hard "clunking" or "popping" noise when making turns at slow speeds. The dealer is aware of this and is charging to fix, even though it's a known issue. I got some help from another poster on the po449 fault code on this truck, evap/canister. The actual part number for this truck is the same as the part number for the 06 sububrban. The difference is they look a little different, but have the same part number stamped on them, nothing else. Suburban part, 28.00. Truck part, 153.00. Same installation, Same result, to clear the evap/canister fault code. Opt for the suburban part obviously. After you install the part, if you ask nicely at advance auto, they will clear the fault code for uyou at no charge. Great group of people! Other than that, no other issues.

I believe the 5.3 took the place of the old chevy 350 engine.
