Broken bolt on thermostat housing
Broke bolt for water neck housingFound it online so I ordered 2 few days ago and just got
an email saying that the parts are discontinued. It's for a 1991 chevy caprice wagon with
a 305. Should I just buy a new water neck with bolts? And does anyone know of a part
number so I can find an exact fit
If you got the old one out, you can probably take it to your local hardware store and find the same size for a replacement.
The bolt has a nut that is welded in the middle.
You can also try rockauto.com for the water outlet. Or Tonkinonline or gmpartsdirect, or gmpartsgiant for the bolt(s). The 3 GM sites are excellent sources for parts for older models. HTH. -Jim
Try a local junk yard. 305 and 350 are plentiful and have the same bolts.
Gmpartsshop.com Says discontinued Same with a few others I checked Gonna check the sites you mentioned and definitly the junk yards. Thank you all for the suggestions and web links
018 **085606 STUD,WAT OTLT(3/8-16X25/32 BOTH ENDS)(3.275) B(L03) 91-93 02 -- -- Not Available That's from gmpartsgiant Other sites also say discontinued how can 2 bolts be discontinued
That is the bolt that snapped have to use the ez out to remove the rest
And it holds a ground wire or the harness I'll bet.
Yes it does
You could always get a regular bolt of the same size and pitch and replace the end on the ground wire. Just put the bolt through the end of the ground wire and tighten it down. Or bolt the ground wire to something else close by that's not painted. HTH. -Jim
