Won't Crank

Asked by Mar 31, 2016 at 03:44 PM about the 2007 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 Camry won't start. We just
replaced the battery a few months ago, and
when we try to start it nothing. I think it's the
alternator because the lights and radio still
come on. Any suggestions I miss my mom
mobile.

First thing to do is take a volt meter and test your battery. It should have 12 volts with the engine off. If you have 12 volts or more, it's not your alternator. Sounds like you may have a bad starter. If you can find someone to help you try this test: Locate the starter, have someone turn the key to the ON position and hold it there like they're starting the car, as they hold the key, rap on the starter with a hammer. If the car suddenly turns over, you have a bad starter and need a replacement.
