I need some help please Ok I have a 1991 chevy 1500, 350 5.7L and it's wierd because sometimes she start fine but other times I have to I've her gas to start and having too use the 2 foot method
She dies after we left off the gas at a low
and there is loads of white smoke coming
out of the exhaust and we have recently
replaced the head and the fuel pump and
she's still keeps dieing on us is there
anybody out there with ideas to what it
could be because we are stumped
If you have white smoke coming out the exhaust, you may need to do a compression check on the engine, most likley the head is bad,or head gasket you replaced did not seat.
Thank you I appreciate your time to help I'll definitely check it out but is there anything else that you think it could be because other times she'll start and run with out smoke but then out of nowhere when she hits a low idle like at a stop light or we have to use the 2 foot method to keep her running or she'll just die and well that's why we are confused
This sounds exactly like a temp sensor gone totally bad. The ECM thinks it's 0 degrees out and dumps fuel to it.
I've also seen the AIC (Air Idle Control, right behind the TPS on the throttle body) cause similar issues.
