I have a 92 Chevy c1500 with a 305 ci, 5L V8. Carb. No efi. Been told 5 and 5 and a half for oil capacity. What is the real oil capacity, and what is normal operating range for oil pressure? Thanks!

It's most likely 5 quarts. Do this. At your next oil and filter change refill with 4 quarts. Before starting the engine check the level on the dipstick. If it's at the full mark start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Now shut it off. Wait a few minutes and check the oil level again. It'll be low because now the new oil filter is full of oil. It'll be one half to one quart low. Now simply top it off and you'll be all set. Oil pressures are higher when the engine is cold. In the winter on cold start up the gauge may read as high as 80. When fully warmed up I'd consider 20 to 35 on the gauge, at idle to be about normal. HTH. -Jim
