Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Running poorly-having trouble with the tune-up. Nothing seems to work-know matter
what I do. It sputters & misses, back fires with no power, & bogges down when you  step
on the excerlerator peddle. How do you do a proper tune-up proceedure?

Remove old spark plugs, disable spark by unplugging the coil, test compression, check plug gap and install new plugs, inspect cap rotor ignition wires, replace if necessary, replace air, fuel, PCV filters, check PCV valve, replace if needed, reconnect the coil, locate and disconnect the spout connect start engine and check timing, adjust if needed, stut down engine and reinstall spout connector. That is a basic tune up. But I don't think you have a tune up problem, could be a low fuel pressure problem or as stated above a plugged exhaust system. Have you pulled the codes? There could be something in the systems memory that can give you a starting place.
