This is telling you that either the voltage currently generated by the alternator is not sufficient to charge the battery or the battery charge is low.

Had the same problem with my 1994 GMC Sierra. Bought a new battery, made sure the battery terminals were clean and tight, had the alternator rebuilt, changed all the fuses, checked the grounds and replaced the alternator wire connector, nothing worked. Checked the voltage coming from the alternator and it was a little low under demand, dropped slightly below 13 volts (There are videos on YouTube showing how to check the voltage with a multimeter) after the engine warmed up with the headlights and A/C on. Found out there is a diode in the alternator where if the internal voltage regulator is not putting out sufficient voltage from the alternator, the diode will make the battery light flicker. Also learned that sometimes the diode will start to go bad and cause the battery light to flicker. Was also told this can happen with rebuilt alternators. Bought a NEW, not rebuilt alternator and the light hasn't come on since. Hope this helps.
