have you ever set timing? what makes you think you need to time it? most cans after 95 are per set and you can not do to much adjustments, if your checking to see if it jumped time or your belt broke, first I would ask how many miles do you have on it? has the belt or chain ever been replaced? next if you want to see if it jumped take out number 1 spark plug, (only ) un plug coil, get a plastic straw, have someone bump the starter place the start in the cyl hole tell you feel the top of the piston as motor turns over you can feel with the straw come up to it hightest point if you past it and it goes down no stress it will come back up your goal is to stop it when it is all the way to top before it goes down it make take a few trys when you have done this, then take off the distributor cap, follow the spark plug wire from the number 1 plug to the cap, see if the rotor points to it, it should if it is pointing to anywere but 1 you have jumped time, or broken belt/chain or you did not get it all the way to the top, check your work, use noting harder then a straw as something hard could make damage to your piston
