How do I change my always on, headlights, as"driving lights", to switched headlights? It has always irritated me that they are always on.

1996 Silverado, back before GM realized that driving lights should be different that the headlights.

It's in the ECU. You may or may not be able to get it reprogrammed. It's not a job for the average shop. Most likely it's a dealership deal.

There is a trick to some GM vehicles. Try starting your truck with the parking brake engaged. It may keep your daytime running lights off. If this is the case you can engage the parking brake just enough to make the switch and keep the daytime running lights off. I have a 99 Chevy Blazer and I can do it with my vehicle.
