brake lights not working on my 1998 chevy 1500
Did you check bulb?
1. Make sure the bulbs are working. 2. Do you have all the wires making connections? 3. Is the ground wire connected and have a clean connection? 4. Are you getting power to the brake lights? If not is the fuse good? 5. The top brake light is on a different circuit, so the brake peddle relay is good. 6. My daughter MBZ had all her brake lights go out and it was corrosion on the light socket. (MBZ recall), check, clean and douse with some WD-40 to insure a good connection. 7. Do you have a hitch trailer connection? Some times that causes the lights to not function correctly. Try to see if you have power to the brake light circuit before disconnecting to see it that works. 8. Scratch your head, have a beer and cuss.
had the same problem. poor connection or corroded connections where wires go into the under hood fuse block to the brake relayl. took fuse block apart turned it over and sprayed the connection with electrical connection cleaner available at napa. might even be able to pull relay and spray cleaner down thru connections.
Still not getting brake lights
GuruZZS5S3, what have you done to search out the problem? 01hunter570 stated he found poor connections. My response above should help locate the problem. All except # 8. That's optional. What type of car and year vehicle do you have? If you have a trailer hitch and electrical connection, people in the past disconnected the wiring harness and it fixed the immediate problem. Lest us have a little bit more information to assist in your search for brake lights.
