when I start my pickup sometimes the CHECK GAUGES light come on and my tach wont work and when I start to drive it slips going into 3rd gear.I can turn the truck off, start it, the light goes out the tach works and it shifts just fine.any ideas?

That sounds like a weak power or ground pathway, I would start with the main power distribution box, make sure it is connected properly, then replace the power relays as they can get weak over time, if you still haven't found your problem then you will have to start checking all of the power and grounds pathways, make sure all of the connections are clean and tight, a bad or intermittent ground or power supply can reek havoc with an electronic systems in your rig. so I figured out that if I hit my key inward the check gauge light goes out and the tach works and it shifts just fine.Im thinking maybe a bad ignition switch?
