The timing is not set by the distributor on this engine but by the computer, the best thing to do is to bring cylinder up on TDC compression stroke then retime the distributor with the rotor pointing at number one when locked into place, disconnect the battery and turn on the headlight switch for at least 30 seconds then turn off the headlight switch and reconnect the battery, recheck all electrical connections especially the distributor and the crank sensor wiring and the sensor grounds that were undone during the gasket replacement. You should check the spark plugs for fuel fouling, I did my intake gaskets on my old Tahoe and all of the sudden the fuel pressure regulator just went south for no good reason so I had to replace it and clear all the fuel out of the cylinders before firing it up. Once it does start and runs you may have to take it into a dealer and have the sync signals reset, but only if the check engine light comes on and you have a code for the sync signal. HTH
