My 1996 Buick park avenue brakes are grinding. I have to get them done this weekend. But now my check engine light came on at 130,300 miles. Is it my breaks causing the light to come on? Plz help...

Brakes grinding? Sounds like your pads are completely worn down. Your going to need pads and rotors. The check engine light is probably a separate issue and the car can be scanned at the mechanic garage while your in there fixing both issues at the same time for many more worry free miles of driving.
