could the speed sensor affect the speedo to miss read and sometimes not work at all?
Driving and sometime the speedo reads 80 but going 30mph and then it does not work at
all while driving.
Absolutely. You do not have a speedometer cable. The vehicle speed sensor, at the transmission, sends a signal to the computer. The computer then positions the speedometer needle based on the signal from the vehicle speed sensor. HTH. -Jim
You're welcome. Glad to help. Thank you for the best answer click. - Jim
this only happens at speeds above 60mph at lower speeds it works fine.
It's very likely that the sensor has lost it's calibration. HTH. - Jim
Changed the speed sensor located on the transmission, still have the problem. Speedo is pointed almost straight down not at zero. Anymore suggestions?
I'm sorry to hear that! The only other 2 things it can be is the instrument cluster or the BCM (Body Control Module). Unfortunately the speedo isn't serviceable by itself. HTH. -Jim
Mine is doing similar. It is not a fuse or anything....ha. Just all of a sudden went bazerk. Hit 130mph and others are at 80- 90mph.???!?!?! What to do
It is the Stepper Motor. Your best bet is to send it out for repair. someone like this http://drspeedometer.com or this http://www.speedometerrepairguy.com/pricing.htm or many others that you can find on the internet.
