Plase help! The tranny in my car is shifting hard and if I'm in park or stopped at a light for too long my car will stall out... I recently changed the fluid and filter...

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The old fluid was clean with the
normal amount of wear for it having
132,000 miles on it... maybe the
torque converter?

These GM transmissions are fussy about having the fluid changed. Most dealers won't do it at 100,000 miles if it's never been changed before or if it's history is unknown. Most likely there's worn parts in there that were using the "crud" in the old fluid to grab onto and work correctly. Since the fluid is clean now it's causing issues. You're probably looking at a tranny rebuild. HTH. -Jim

It was having this issue before I changed the fluid... I changed it thinking it would help and it's the same...

If fluid didn't help you have another issue. Could be the torque converter or the transmission shift solenoid. Have it looked at.
