97 buick le sabre goes into first won't change no more

Question type: General

The bottom of the pan is leaking trans

If it's leaking, then your probably low on fluid. If the trans is low on fluid it won't shift properly as transmissions work on hydrauilics to shift. If you have been driving the car with a low fluid level for some time, you built up some heat in the trans because there wasn't enough fluid to keep things cool. Heat burns up transmissions. You might have done some damage. Have a mechanic or trans shop in your area inspect the transmission and see if you can get away with just fixing the leak.
