Automatic Door Locks Not Working?

Asked by turblown Nov 20, 2020 at 01:39 AM about the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Automatic door locks worked fine when I bought the car a few weeks ago, but
now they don't.  The door locks are not locking or unlocking when using the
key fob (remote keyless entry) OR when using any of the automatic door lock
buttons in the vehicle.  When the lock button is pressed on the key fob the
security system is armed (hazard lights flash, red blinking light activates), but
the doors don't lock.  Alternatively, when the unlock button is pressed on the
key fob the security system is disarmed (hazard lights flash, red blinking light
stops), but the doors don't unlock.  I was in the middle of a compression test
on the vehicle when it happened, so the battery was hooked up to a charger
and multiple turnovers were performed to complete the test.  Currently, the
car starts, runs and drives perfectly.  I have checked all fuses, none are
blown.  I have checked all grounds and they all appear clean and in tact.
There are no check engine lights or codes picked up by my scanner.  It's
almost as if I activated a setting that needs to be reversed or have blown a
fuse that I'm unaware of.  Your help is appreciated!

Automatic locks don't work from either switch?

That is correct. Automatic locks don't work from either switch.

Do they make the usual sound like they are attempting to lock?

I have not removed door panels or bypassed any switches yet. ALL the switches and the fob stopped working at the same time, so my assumption is that the fob and switches themselves are not the issue.

Fuse was my first thought as well, but I have literally pulled all fuses and continuity checked all of them. I think this is a vehicle specific issue. Not sure.

Need to see picture of engine compartment fuse box and passenger compartment fuse panel to make sure I'm tracking the correct wiring diagram down

Have you checked the resistor by chance? I'm not 100 on where its located but I'm guessing its somewhere between the fuses and where it t's off to go to switches and rke module

From what I'm seeing so far, looks like it might be under driver kick plate on a white/green wire

Here are some pictures. This is for a 2006 (2nd gen PT Cruiser), so from what I understand, there is only one fuse box (located in the engine bay). I'm not sure what resistor you are referring to and where it is located.

"From what I'm seeing so far, looks like it might be under driver kick plate on a white/green wire" That's great! Any wiring diagram or general layout drawings you can share with me so I can see what you are talking about?

My apologies, I cant seem to find that one anymore, as I kept looking after running across it, but I did keep running across multiple sites that mentioned light green/dark green for the power locks, (8 or so times while trying to get back to that page) so I'm including the reference to it instead.

I found where I seen the white/green wire, it was in regards to installing a transceiver module for crimestopper security products I misread it

The link that Jiustin gave is worthless and goes to a Mexican website concerning Ford Rangers. I have the exact same problems and symptoms on my 2006 PT Cruiser, electric door locks died, won't actuate from switches or fob, all fuses good, can't find wiring charts showing it.
