Did I need all of these parts replaced?

Asked by Aug 27, 2015 at 10:31 AM about the 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I took my 2006 PT Cruiser in because the engine light came on, and when I started to drive, the car would not go into second gear.  They replaced the TIPM--the light still came on and still would not go into second.  They replaced the cooling fan--still the same problem.  Now they want to replace the PCM.  Are all of these parts related and, did I need to replace all of them?

Probably not. Sounds like they don't know what's wrong with it so they're just throwing parts at it. Take it somewhere else! HTH. -Jim
