Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I PURCHASED A 4.9 STROKER ENGINE FOR MY JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THE WRIST PIN CAMEON NUMBER 6 CYLINDER OUT SO WE SENT IT BACK. THEY SENT US ANOTHER ONE PROBABLY THE SAME ONE THAT THEY FIXED, THERE IS A SORT OF TAPPING OR CLICKING NOISE THAT IS LOUD WHEN IT IS FIRST STARTED GETS LOUDER AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO AND THEN GETS A LITTLE LESS NOISEY WHEN IT WARMS UP.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS COULD BE

What weight of oil are you running? Hows the oil pressure?

The oil wieght is 10w 30 the oil pressure is good, no problem there. The noise how ever is getting louder. suggestions have been bad lifter and possibly the cylinder and piston may have a slight gap that could cause what they call piston slap. We are now looking for another engine. I will not go through Titan agian Any suggestions?

Well I think piston slap is a pretty good diagnosis, I was thinking a lifter not getting enough oil. I don't know what year they switched to the v6 but if you have that engine it could also be a timing chain/belt that is loose making noise. I had a Taurus SHO that I swore had a rod knock but it was a loose tensioner.
