Have a PPI done by a shop that knows 997 Turbos. Metzger engine is bullet proof if not abused, so only worry if a manual trans and someone performed a money shift and overreved it in the past. PPI should show this. Normal maintenance as with any car. They are pretty trouble free.

Buy one with around 50k miles on it, not a very high or very low mileage car. These cars like to be driven, not stored.

The above answers are excellent. I might add during the PPI, check the oil filter. And, a good old fashion test drive to make sure the shifting is smooth with no abnormal sounds from anywhere. It's good to wind the car up in second gear, let off on throttle. Then full throttle. Check the rear view for white smoke.

Like any precision product, take care of it by using only the best products and drive it hard every once in a while. Find an independent Porsche shop that has racing experience and they'll do a better job than any dealership. Beautiful car.
