If you check your owners manual I believe it requires FL22 type coolant. It should say on the coolant cap itself.

Also here is another link if you plan on changing the thermostat. http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=436650

What's with the "coolant change kit"? just drain the radiator and engine block and fill it back up- be careful with air bubbles behind the thermostat-

From the fire wall which hose do I cut to put a plastic T valve in to introduce the cleaner to flush the existing system? There are two hoses near each other, which is the right one for the T valve? Thx. Dave

I re-read that page and saw nothing about cutting hoses...those are probably heater hoses and running the heater during flush also flushes heater core

The radiator has drain plug,at bottom, for flushing.

The car should not need a flush/cleaner its not that old, manual suggest coolant change every 5 years. I would just drain, change the thermostat, and refill with fresh coolant. You can alway refference MIATA.NET and see what other miata owners are doing for maintenance.
