Chevrolet Corsica - Black Box Under Column?

Asked by rtnewby Aug 01, 2010 at 10:17 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet Corsica Sedan FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have a short and a horn problem on a 1994 Chevrolet Corsica.  We traced the horn problem.  The prior owner spliced into the horn wire underneath the dash to attach a grey wire from a plug.  This plug goes to a unknown box underneath the dash. The question now is what is this black box?  It looks like a add on part, since the wires underneath the dash are cut (yellow, orange, red, ect) and tied into the plug which goes to this box.  Any help would be appreciated.

It was found that this box was a "auto-start" that installed aftermarket. It became defective, which was the reason for the horn going off at random times in the night. The previous owner did not supply a remote therefore it was not known that this was even installed on the vehicle. This device was removed and it runs better than ever and has no horn problems.
