my 94 capris wagon cuts off when i put it into gear
have you had a tune-up at all? did they change the sparkplugs? cap and rotor? these have a vacuum advance that could have a faulty vacuum hose...the engine temperature sensor may be telling the computer that the engine is warm already while the ambient sensor is telling the computer that it's cold outside....would check the trouble codes to see which devices are working properly before trying to diagnose your problem, but offhand would say the fuel pressure regulator is faulty, hose fallen off or torn diaprhagm not offering enough fuel pressure to proceed...check it..the supply to it~
Could be the torque converter clutch, in the transmission, is stuck. Possibly due to a bad solenoid. The torque converter clutch is supposed to lock in at cruising speeds to increase fuel economy. If it gets stuck on, the engine will run fine in park but stall as soon as you put it in gear. HTH. -Jim
