mechanic put a cap and rotor kit on 1994 camaro and now the engine runs badly or not at all

after a mechanic replaced cap and rotor kit in 1994 camaro fuel system, the car stalls, backfires, doesn't seem to get gas when accelerating, after the engine runs for about ten minutes the car begins to rumble under hood and then doesn't accelerate, backfires, sounds like it is going to blow up

Sounds like he moved the distributor itself changing the timing or crossed the wires on the cap.
