exhaust leak by manifold,how to disemble?

2007 Chev HHR has motor mount or mounts to replace which contributes to the exhaust allignment off. Haynes has you taking off the junction at the exhaust manifold and taking the manifold off to look for cracks.This vehicle has 106k on it.Do I take the aircleaner off and take off exhaust manifold ? please advise

Their referring to the exhaust manifold, based on them cracking plan on replacing it for all the labor involved just to remove it for inspection is silly.. it can be lifted and checked for leaking without removal in 10 minutes forget Haynes. Consider a muffler facility just to check for a cracked manifold the smart thing to do lift it and inspect. If you choose to replace then its your party. Just consider many books in addiction to the internet, Yeah.. Wiki too are flat out misinformation or as I say WRONG.

You probably have a crack in your exhaust system fex pipe, I'm currently trying to fix this problem
