OIL PRESSURE TOO HIGH 2007 SUBURBAN 5.3 ENGINE

Asked by Guru22V9 May 11, 2017 at 04:56 AM about the 2007 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS 4WD

Question type: General

WHY IS MY OIL PRESSURE TOO HIGH. 75-80 HOT AND 50 AT IDLE HOT.  I HAVE REPLACED OIL PRESSURE SENDING SWITCH THREE TIMES IN 8000 MILES.I'VE REPLACED OIL AND FILTER THREE TIMES. USEING 5W-20 SNYTHETIC OIL. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT BRANDS OF OIL  FILTERS.  IT'S NOT THE SCREEN UNDER SWITCH. BECAUSE IT IS NEW. IT'S NOT THE DASH GUAGE BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND STILL  READS THE SAME ON ALL REPLACEMENT SWITCHS. IT IS AT  0 LBS. WHEN FIRST STARTED, THEN GOES TO ABOUT 90 LBS UNTIL ENGINE GETS WARMED UP. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT BRANDS OF SWITCHS, AT $50-60 EACH. I AM NOT TIGHTENING TOO HARD.  IT'S NOT THE ALTENATOR .THIS IS A VERY VERY RARE PROBLEM.  I AM EXPECTING ANY ANSWERS, BUT IF ANYONE HAS A GUESS I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP.

There should be a pressure relief valve behind the oil filter, usually in the oil filter housing that may be stuck. Should be a round screened hole. May have to take the oil filter housing off to clean it or replace it. May need a new oil filter housing for the repair.
