Getting parts for the AC of a 2007 Vue?
I have a 2007 Saturn Vue, 2.2L engine, with manual transmission. Recently the AC failed, and the repair shop guy said that:
(1) the compressor needs to be replaced (can be done; compressors are available), and
(2) what he described as the "combo line" off the compressor also needs to be replaced.
He said the "combo line" bolts to the compressor, and it goes to (between?) the condenser and the evaporator. Unfortunately, he said the "combo line" isn't available anymore. Does my description make sense? How can I continue to search for this part? Thanks.
Autozone for the compressor, the other line does not require replacement except to satisfy dealership warranty, Autozone warranties the compressor. Make sure you service the compressor with ester oil before adding Freon.
Good info about Autozone and the compressor. But apparently that line leaked when it was tested. Is there a correct name for that particular part? The issue with the non-availability was, as it was explained to me, that the part was specific for the 2007 2.2 manual transmission Vue, and that no company had picked up production of that part.
Could be that the line is the faulty part and the guy is trying to sell you a compressor repair at the same time because he can bank more on replacing that at the same time and it better guarantees the system will work after the work is done.
