My 2001 Saturn SL1

Rpm go"s up and down then dies out , but
starts right up again .

Yeah might be your throttle position sensor TPS sensor when mine went out it started doing that like at idle and then go up to 2000 RPMs go down or stay steady check for codes too but I think it might be that?
