2000 SL-1 A/C clutch engages only when fan is on and defrost is selected. Any other position will not send current to clutch. Help. I love this car!

A/C clutch will not engage when fan directional sw is in any position but defrost. When A/C sw is on and indicator light is green with fan on and fan directional selector sw is not in defrost, no power goes to comp clutch. I would also like to know how to remove the plastic so that I can access that switch as I believe the problem lies somewhere in that area of the lower center dash.

Could be a fuse did you check them yet? I believe if you car is like my 2001 SC2 you can just pull the plastic face plate off the panel & then its screws after that.

I have a Saturn 1992 SL Sedan with 164,000 miles. I am having a major problem with the car cutting off while I am driving at a fairly constant speed or when I am idling at a stop light. The engine will shut off, along with the power steering and all other electronics. This happens when at a stop light only after I press on the gas to accelerate from a dead stop, but I am able to put the car in neutral and start the car again (sometimes it takes a while to restart). We tried getting the electronic control module repaired, but this did not fix the problem. We checked the oil and it appears to be of the correct viscosity for the engine.
