will transfer case in my tahoe cause truck not to shift

transfer case has been going out for a while

Not normally, usually when a transfer case goes bad it just stops the front axle from engaging, there's grinding, clattering then it is finished up with a case busting bang as the chain shatters the case and fluid goes everywhere. Your problem could be the shift solenoids or TCM if it just stopped working and was fine the day before..
