what is the switch on the console marked perf/normal for?

Asked by May 18, 2007 at 01:35 PM about the 1997 Saturn S-Series 4 Dr SL1 Sedan

Question type: General

It is a little toggle switch next to the gear shift on the automatic

Dear rtltst- That little switch can change the shifting patterns of your automatic transmission. The performance setting would have the gears shift at higher rpms than the normal mode, but could be harder on fuel efficiency and engine longevity. Good luck from Bovan.
