Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 97 saturn sc2 and the problem I had today
was when I engaged the cruise control at both 65
and 70mph the revs went from about 2900rpms to
3500-4000rpms. The wierd part about it was that
earlier today I was engaging the cruise control but
it didn't do that at all. I wasn't going up hill either.

3500 to 4000 rpms sound about right for cruising at 65-70 mph. Going up a hill the transmission is going to down shift, raising the rpms.

Sounds like you have no regard for the public going that fast. Slow down and get off your cell phone.
