95 k2500 suburban 7.4 surging when braking in gear....
Ok so i have been searching and searching and can not find
anyone with the same issues im havin.....
I have a 95 suburban k2500 with the 7.4l in it...
Bought it about 3 weekes ago and it had a bad power
steerng leak changed the line and gave a tune up also the
instrument panel was not functioning all the time so i cha
ged that aswell ....
Worked great for about 3 days and then it started surging
when i apllied the brakes..... no check engine light
Thought it might of been the tps so i changed it and reset
the comp and it seemed to do ok but was idling very high....
like 2500 when cold and 2000 when in gear.... changed the
iac and not that went away but am back at the surging
problem.... not sure what is goin on.....
Sounds like the brake booster check valve is bad it is letting air back into the engine when brakes are applied.
Does the hydroboost system have a check valve? I dont have a vacume driven brake booster.....
What the other guys said definitely.
Well heres the weird thing.... it isnt doing it anymore..... i guess it fixed itslef lol.... Im assuming after i reset the computer it needed to relearn itself...... Now i just gotta find my power steering leak and fix it and address the high idle...
A hydroboost brake system uses the power steering pump to for brake booster so a power steering fluid leak will affect braking.
Yeah thats what i thought..... Gunna havsta track down that leak.... looks like it may be leaking from the hydroboost system itself or the gearbox......
Update... I thought it was when i was hitting the brakes in gear... turns out it does it in park and neutral when it warms up..... dosent do it cold.... Also has developed a bogging down on acceleration and severe loss of power.....
Ok..... so i got a ac delco tps and that solved the high idle, the bogging down, the hard shift, and the down shift..... And now the serging is more like dieing..... it didnt do it all today.... then on the way home from lowes it started... and then turned on my road and it died.......... Started right back up but i have no clue what it could be......
Check and replace air filter if necessary.
Ok so i found out i had no engine grounds!!!!! They all jad failed at some point in their lives!!!! So... i replaced them wednesday and havnt had a problem since!!!! Gunna drive her a lil mm ore over the weekend and keep everything updated!!!
