the front a/c blower in my wifes 2005 chrysler town and country van stopped working. how do i determine if this is the blower or the resistor
Turn the blower motor fan to ON. Rap the bottom of the motor with a heavy ratchet. If the motor suddenly begins to work, the motor is bad and needs replacement. Usually when the resistor is bad, you typically will lose a low or high speed. But I have seen the resistors totally burn out. If you have a test light, you can unplug the wire from the motor and test it for power. If no power, the resister most likely burned up.
Hi, I had the problem where the speed of the blower motor couldn't be controlled and after turning off the system using it's switch the blower would actually run at a higher rpm. Only after using the key to shut things down would it stop running. As soon as you turned the engine or van back on the blower would also start running. The fix was found at Auto Zone for $72.99, part number JA1623. My van is a 2005 touring with auto front and rear controls. Hope this helps. Ron
