Terribly sorry to tell you, the problem lies in your air box. Automatic control systems have a module activated blend door. It sounds to me like the blend door is stuck. Either by a broken door or bad module. this will cause the directing warm air in one direction and cold air in the other problem. To check this turn the heat form hot to cold and listen if you can hear the blend door moving. http://www.chryslerforum.com/forum/chrysler-sebring-14/02-sebring-temperature-control-hvac-2710/

Basic systems is where I specialize. When we get to vehicle specifics I need the use of All Data online or Mitchell on demand. I strongly recomend a print out from one of the above mentioned guides (available at most parts stores). In most cases the module can be changed with slight to moderate difficulty because it is in a tight spot. otherwise its simply one connector and three or four screws. If the problem is the blend door the A/C system may need to be discharged and opened, this is better done in a shop. If the A/C system is opened you will need to replace the orifice tube and receiver drier. Good Luck
