Vibration and noise

I have a 2007 pt cruiser  with 178,000 miles
the engine is loud not knocking or anything
just loud and when I press my brakes my car
vibrates really bad around the floorboard
what could cause this

Sounds like you need your brakes inspected, warped rotors can make the shake as you described, and also sounds like the exhaust is needing repair.
