1995 5 speed has trouble going in between gears

Asked by May 09, 2012 at 11:48 PM about the 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

it goes into gear fine. it's just moving side to side that is hard to do. I took console off and looked at shifter and
everything is fine I think. greased all that up and nothing. where should I look next? everything that goes into trans
looks good could it be between where the cables come out of firewall and where the control arms meet the trams?
please help:)

there's a plastic bushing that wears out in the shifter.

do you think I would have luck finding that bushing or should I look for a whole new shifter?
