My fuel guage reads but will drop to empty if I stop or even sometimes let off the fuel...

thats not good sounds like thats on the fuel pump it self and depending on what kind of car you have it could be a real pain in the &%#

Does it stop doing it if the tank is full? If so then the fuel tank sender is starting to go bad, if not then there could be a problem with the gauge wiring or even the gauge itself. Either way not a simple fix.
