1996 suburban turns over 3..4 times before it fires
Please help.I have a 96 suburban have done plugs .leads
new fuel pump and filter. But it still winds over 3 to 4 times
sometimes more before it fires. All on occasion will back
fire through throttle body..what next.
Sounds lean, have you done a fuel pressure and flow test, possible fuel pressure regulator or plugged fuel spyder system.
Yes, as tennisshoes says, check the fuel pressure. It should be 56 to 63 lbs. Also once fuel pressure is built up on a fuel pressure gauge, turn the key to the off position. Fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 lbs in 3 minutes. If it does, that is a sign of the spider injection assembly leaking, and would need replacing.
Update.... right I have just brought a fuel pressure tester.will do this test tomorrow..the other thing it did today was when it fired a puff of black smoke from exhaust cleared quickly. Funny thing is it starts great straight after being driven. Wait ten minutes then hard to start again.
Sounds like the spider injection is leaking.
