It starts up runs awhile then chugs like not getting gas.

It shuts off then  it will not start again for 45 min. so then starts up a goes now i am afraid
to go very far with it. please some one help me

Check to see if the fuel pump is working. turn your ignition on but do not start it, then go and listen near your fuel tank and you should hear a slight humming noise. no noise, no fuel pump worky worky.
