How do i fill the radiator directly in my 95 Buick Roadmaster?

Asked by Mar 11, 2017 at 10:42 AM about the 1995 Buick Roadmaster Limited Sedan RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My radiator was just replaced and the
only way we know to put fluid in it is
through the overflow tank. We put
water in it but it's not enough, I drove it
the other day and that tank steamed
up everyplace I went because it got
dry and I put water in it again, and
again, and it still stalled out for a bit.
Also replaced the thermostat and
sensor, the heat Gage still ain't
working! What is up with this thing?
And now I have water coming out of
my tailpipes. I need this car
straightened out.

You fill through the overflow tank like you are doing. But if you are getting water out the tailpipes, you have a larger issue. Sounds like the head gasket has failed allowing coolant/water into the combustion chamber. That's why you are overheating due to a low coolant level. Head gaskets fail on higher mileage vehicle and also when they are constantly overheated. A head gasket repair on your vehicle will cost around $2000-$2400 at a local shop. Not worth it IMO. If you love the car, consider a used engine, it might be cheaper , or just dump the car for another. Good Luck!
