2007 Escape just shut off while driving

Daughter driving at college and engine shut down on her going up a hill. We had a 2007 Escape hybrid that did the same thing, but that was batteries over heating. This is not a hybrid. Any ideas. Battery tested good my roadside assistance.

this happened to me with a pathfinder when the fuel tank got too low. the hill made the gas shift to one end of tank. does it happen on full tank?
