Check the electrical connector for power or breaks, and that it is seated in completely. If all is ok, it would likely be the switch or the motor for the seat back is bad.

No answer, but where is the electrical connector located? I am having the same problem with my 2008 Santa Fe, and it is very frustrating as I am in a rush to go someplace, and I cannot raise my driver's seat up to a comfortable position??

The power connectors are located underneath the seat, you will need to be a bit flexible and have a flashlight to see them.

If you take the circuit board out of the seat then open the switchyou will see two little balls on two levers. Careful not to loose them. Take them out then take the levers out. I'd take a picture so you know how they go back in. On points of contact on both the switch side and contractor side you will see charring take a small flat head and scrap that until the metal is clean. Put it all back together and it should work.
