1997 suburban heater fan only works on high why?

Your AC pump is overwound, remove your serpentine belt and rotate the compressor counter clockwise 250 to 300 times. Of course I am assuming you are only driving when you are not high!

might need a new resistor,thats what controls your fan speed.
