I have a 07 jeep compass with a 2.0 and the C V T auto tranny and it just ( DRIVES ) me crazy it seems to me to be slipping between shifts i no that they say they work like a snowmoble clutchs
but mine sounds like it is shifts sometimes and inbetween shifts it sounds like it is slipping i have hade it looked at by a dealer (jeep) and the said it was a bad sensor after the socalled replaced it it doesnt seem an different it this just there nature????
A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is a transmission that can change steplessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values. This contrasts with other mechanical transmissions that offer a fixed number of gear ratios. The flexibility of a CVT allows the input shaft to maintain a constant angular velocity over a range of output velocities. Soooo, it is just their nature. Sometimes it seems as if you are tach'ing too high rpm's but it's OK, it's not slipping
David is right, the CVT does not shift like a conventional automatic. But if you feel like there is a problem and the dealers fix of a bad sensor didn't work to your satisfaction then take it back to the dealer or try another local dealer to have it inspected again. If all checks out, either you need to get used the CVT or purchase another vehicle.
