Car won't start after putting in new oil... 97 Chevy Lumina

Asked by Jan 17, 2015 at 09:57 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet Lumina 4 Dr LTZ Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My oil light came on while I was driving home, I stopped at King Soopers and put in
about 2 quarts of 5W-30 which should have topped it off or came close. Now it won't
start, it sounds like it wants to but won't turn over. I don't know if one of the bottle was
5w-20 or something else and I didn't notice, if that could affect it.

Also now when I try to start it just makes a few dings and displays some of the
security lights. Does that mean I need to bypass that? Or can I?

Probably not the oil. Check the battery voltage. Maybe the ignition switch?
