2007 Ford Edge with 165k miles. Miles to Empty went from 362 Miles to 249 Miles to empty. OVERNIGHT!
For 8 years when I fill my tank, the "Miles to Empty" will show around 362
miles to empty. Just recently it shows 249 miles to empty. What happened
overnight? I always get good gas mileage, and just recently I don't. The car
drives fine. I just replaced the plugs and Ignition coils with FOMOCO. My
mileage now is just awful, and my Miles to Empty now reflects it too. Thanks
for any help.
I would put in a can of SeaFoam in the tank, check the air filter and replace if plugged, then have the codes checked and if there are any listed then repair or replace as needed, if no codes then do a reset on the ECM and drive as you normally do for about 20 minutes, then top off your fuel tank and restart the mileage checking, but use both the automated system and manually so you can compare to two, if you do find an error in the automated it could be a fuel flow sensor misreading.
