My car cranks a long time before it starts

Asked by Oct 26, 2009 at 10:41 PM about the 2007 Saturn Outlook XR

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 outlook and just recently have problems getting it started.  I had it in twice to get it check and they say nothing is wrong. Yesterday I could not get it started.  I had it towed to the dealer and they said that is started just fine.  Has anyone had this problem happen to them.

I have a 2008 outlook and this is happening to me now. Suddenly and for no apparent reason it sometimes refuses to start. I had it towed to a dealer and $500 later they gave it back to me with a new battery that there's no way I needed. Two days later, after driving it a bunch, which included several stops and starts, it stranded me at a local restaurant. The next day I went back and it started immediately. Did you ever get to the bottom of your problem?

I recently had this problem with my 2007 outlook xr. The fiorst time I had it towed to the dealership who charged the battery and that seemed to fix it. I just happened again and I noticed that the battery was half charged and would not start with a jump from another car. I put my charger on it and the voltage at the battery is 13.5 volts but the dash meter reads 10 volts. Still just cranks but no start. I did find that the positive battery terminal was loose, tightened it and will recharge and see what happens.
